A content control system CMS is a program application or set of associated courses which are used to create and manage digital content. CMSes are customarily used for enterprise content control ECM and web content material management WCM. An ECM facilitates collaboration in the workplace by integrating record management, electronic asset control and information retention functionalities, and providing end users with role based access to the organization’s electronic assets. A WCM allows collaborative authoring for internet sites. ECM application often includes a WCM publishing capability, but ECM webpages typically remain behind the organization’s firewall.
