‘Travel advice update not enough to salvage lost revenue’

QandAFollowing the Government’s assertion on the relaxation of the quarantine for 59 nations, TravelMole spoke to Julia Lo Bue Said, CEO at The Advantage Travel Partnership. Are your individuals preparing for a rush in bookings? We already know from our analysis that there’s a serious pent up demand from travellers and this variation in advice will enable our participants to sell travel to those clients who were waiting to book. We hope for our participants that it could be a busy weekend! What will you be doing to help your contributors? The advertising collateral that has been created to promote destinations from the list where there is no quarantine on arrival and the guidelines that we have got devised should help contributors optimistically assist their customers and cut through any confusion now that travel is a more complex adventure. It is also worth making an allowance for that the change in advice is just constructive for our individuals in England and we hope the devolved administrations act in response to the executive to permit all UK travellers, and agents to benefit from these changes. Has this come just in time for the college holidays? The update in the advice and the exemptions is a welcome move ahead and will absolutely help with pent up demand for school holidays, though it isn’t enough to salvage the loss in revenue our individuals have incurred over the past few months.

What about Portugal not being on the list?Whilst it is disappointing that such a key vacation spot for UK holidaymakers isn’t on the list, when destinations like Madeira and the Azores are which adds to the confusion for buyers we await further executive advice once this has been reviewed. It’s also crucial for us and our contributors to have an knowing of how these destinations were selected to explain to buyer when they’re enquiring about reserving their trip. Are patrons still anxious about reserving? We will ensure our contributors are best placed to supply as much suggestions to their customers about the entire buyer adventure but inevitably, as we are still in an endemic, there will needless to say be some customers who won’t feel cozy about traveling just yet. In a time of uncertainty where there could be more questions than ever, reserving through a travel agent will give you the British public with an added layer of reassurance and peace of mind as being able to pick up the telephone and get in touch with a travel expert can help put travellers’ minds at ease.
