There’s little money to be made in rehashing the old Ripper thoughts so Ripperologists have to invent new and artistic ways of giving oxygen to the yarn. The latest effort comes to us from History Channel in an eight part series called American Ripper. In it, retired American lawyer Jeff Mudgett tries to prove that his great great grandfather was the killer. Herman Webster Mudgett was an American serial killer who was performed in 1896. He was better referred to as H.
H. Holmes and confessed to 27 murders, but he could have killed near 200 people. Jeff Mudgett claims his great great grandfather was in London in 1888 with a partner in crime. Holmes ordered the associate to carry out the Whitechapel murders to create a distraction from his own assaults on upper class women. He was, apparently, seeking high class ovaries that he believed may be become a youth serum.
