Founded in 1861 by a private gift of 10 acres in what’s now the heart of downtown Seattle, the UW is one of the oldest public universities on the West Coast. We’re deeply dedicated to upholding the duty that includes that legacy. And being public has always meant being available. Anyone can enjoy and be enriched by all the UW has to offer, adding world class libraries, art, music, drama, sports and the very best quality clinical care in Washington state.
Being public also means being engaged with our communities, and through data and discovery we are elevating the high quality of lives of others. Google’s undertaking is to organize the realm’s guidance and make it universally available and useful. Our agency has packed a lot into a relatively young life. Since Google was headquartered in 1998, we’ve grown to serve lots of of thousands of users and customers world wide. Founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University in 1995.
By 1996, they’d built a search engine at the start called BackRub that used links to check the importance of individual webpages.
