The Xperia 1’s exhibit will likely turn the main heads, but it’s not the only groundbreaking technology the phone has to present. The triple rear camera system is another major spotlight. On paper, the specs alone are wonderful. The system includes three 12MP shooters: a 16mm super wide, a versatile 26mm, and a 52mm telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
But the larger story is that Sony was able to borrow era from its lauded Alpha series to create a mobile image processing engine specifically designed for the Xperia 1. Sony’s calling this engine BIONZ X, and it’ll give Xperia 1 users many of the same elements seen in Sony’s specialist cameras. Of these points, one of the crucial noteworthy is Eye AF Autofocus, which has never been done in a cellphone before. On top of that, users get a ton of high level photo and video facets, including optimized low light taking pictures, 10 fps AF/AE Auto Focus and Auto Exposure, the capability to record 4K video, full handle over ISO and shutter speed—simply to name a few.
