The POST licensed Regular Basic Course basic academy is the training average for police officials, deputy sheriffs, school district police officers, district legal professional investigators, in addition to a few other classifications of peace officers. The basic academy is both bodily and mentally difficult. It comprises a minimum of 664 hours of POST advanced training and testing in 42 separate areas of guide called Learning Domains. Most POST certified basic training academies exceed the 664 hour minimal by 200 or more hours with some academies providing over 1000 hours of education and checking out.
