Thanks for the post, but have to say with 33 years experience and having read all 72 ‘definitions’ it amazes me how people try to complicate the advertising concept with very precise and sophisticated pigeon holes. Most of the definitions are part of what makes it advertising, but eventually, the average definition is not about ‘convincing, persuading, building relationships, ongoing trust, advocates or communicating’. They are fancy tags that can or might not be required, counting on your product, customer base, approach and favored effect. It is simply “Identifying a market need and pleasant it”.
Pure and easy. Without that, not anything else concerns.
