Slacktivism is a buzzword that arose to describe a social media phenomenon: getting “concerned” solely via low in cost/low effort methods of attractive e. g, clicking “share,” or “like”. High level engagement on the other hand, and what’s meant by action in the physical/corporeal sense, is a more colossal contribution, comparable to volunteering, donating, meeting, etc. These latter forms of engagement without delay result in large scale change. But with a purpose to get to that point in the procedure, low risk engagement must occur.
In short, both are essential for the sustainability of an idea. There needs to be room for all kinds of engagement.
