Daniel,Yes I’ve observed the remark you quote, too. In the past twelve months I have had the unfortunate experience of trying to get a site which revenue from an associates program reconsidered, with out luck at all. The site is 100% common content, written by myself with real, objective reviews of the items in question. All to no avail, unluckily.
The reconsideration team is not interested at all. The site took at the least 200 hours of my time to construct. Despite this grim event, I’ve come out the other side with some optimism, I’ve found out a few things. I think the major is you need to be able to pass the G raters tests easily, so you don’t end up penalised in the 1st place. The key is understanding what they are searching for.
The various solution to all of this is a new, better, more honest search engine that takes the world by storm and leaves Google searching greedy and stupid. I dream about this every night. Google has a big obligation to the world, Information is every thing in this Digital Age and like it or not, rightly or wrongly Google has become the gateway for this. But if they take advantage of this monopolistic position in accordance with their own greed then action has to be taken. I find it hard to sit back and just watch this, I’ve contacted AVAAZ. org and asked them to do a crusade on Google’s antitrust they’ve done one on Murdoch’s monopoly, why not Google.
Google obviously doesn’t really care what the SEOs, Affiliates etc recall to mind what they do, but most likely if the larger global neighborhood were aware of Google’s antitrust and help a campaign towards Google in keeping with precept there may be some hope. In numbers maybe we can do anything. When it comes to scale, as pointed out with Groupon, all of those rules go out the window. If you examine the largest advertisers, replace their account with one without history and the logo “Geico” with “SEOBook auto coverage” and the campaign will simply not run. You are spam.
In some cases larger advertisers are capable of run ads which are truly deceptive and go towards guidelines which they actively implement on smaller advertisers. I have a robust suspicion now that here’s in truth institutionalized in Google’s rating technique in preference to any employee going out of their way to overturn some type of penalty. As a client I want Google to have the coolest, most devoted experience possible. They can fight SEOs and affiliates all day long and it does not bother me. I fully anticipated the innovative waves that helped the internet wreck old media do an identical again to itself. But, when Google lies, and do things that actually damage that buyers event not can I defend Google when eHow first started stoning up in 50% of the searches I did I was bowled over; I am absolutely appalled they still appear on page 1 for anything else, the articles are patently written by authors that re hashed an alternative article in 10 minutes and infrequently factually wrong on top of it.
