WASHINGTON – Today, the Bureau of Industry and Security BIS of the U. S. Department of Commerce announced that it will be adding Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.

and its affiliates to the Bureau’s Entity List. This action stems from assistance available to the Department that adds a reasonable basis to finish that Huawei is engaged in actions which are opposite to U. S. countrywide safety or international policy interest. This guidance includes the actions alleged in the Department of Justice’s public superseding indictment of Huawei, adding alleged violations of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act IEEPA, conspiracy to violate IEEPA by providing prohibited financial facilities to Iran, and obstruction of justice in reference to the research of these alleged violations of U.

S. sanctions. “This action by the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security, with the help of the President of america, places Huawei, a Chinese owned company it’s the biggest telecommunications equipment producer on the earth, on the Entity List. This will prevent American expertise from getting used by foreign owned entities in ways that probably undermine U. S. national safety or international policy pursuits,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

“President Trump has directed the Commerce Department to be vigilant in its coverage of national safety activities. Since the beginning of the Administration, the Department has added 190 individuals or groups to the Entity List, in addition to instituted five investigations of the effect of imports on countrywide safety under Section 232 of the Trade Act of 1962. ”Additions to the Entity List are determined by the End User Review Committee which is produced from officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, State Department, and Department of Energy. 11b of the Export Administration Regulations, persons or agencies for whom there is within your budget cause to agree with that they are involved, were involved, or pose a significant risk of fitting concerned in actions that are contrary to the national security or foreign policy pursuits of the US, and those performing on behalf of such persons, may be added to the Entity List.
