The Air Resources Board already has a few programs to incentivize the sale and acquire of electric vehicles and the building of EV friendly infrastructure, like charging stations. The state’s Zero Emissions Vehicle software, based in 1990 and now followed by 14 other states, sets up a credit trading system that requires automakers to slowly amp up the variety of zero emission cars in their fleet via 2025. But to hit 100 % zero emission sales just 10 years later, ARB will must set targets that propel automakers and drivers alike into a new electric world.
